May/June 2011 News

This past month has been pretty hectic so I apologize for not doing a news post sooner.

Over the past few weeks we have been working our butt off in the Messer office.  Awhile back we had hired an additional builder named Lucif3r0 Diavolo and he decided to make his first project with us a baseball bat.  Why a bat you ask?  Easy.  A lot of the CCS sims out there are post apocolyptic in nature, so we decided to make something to fit that theme that wasnt a gun and wasnt a knife but could still hurt like hell.  I mean if you are near a sportting goods store and they are all out of guns but a zombie is coming your way what do you grab?  A head bashing, knee breaking baseball bat of course!

The Ball-Buster Baseball Bat features a wood and metal version, a new style HUD (Which im still not happy with so im going to be making it even better),  male and female sheaths for each which is actually just an ingenius way to wear the bat.  Oh and did I mention you can walk with the bat out in the open resting peacefully on your shoulder?

Not to mention I already found ways to improve the bat based on feedback from its users.  I have designed a new HUD that I think people are really going to like for the upcoming E-Tool update and I have decided to impliment that into the bat as well.  We also have better sounds made in house and custom for the bat.   And last but not least, we have a walk and run animation to add in.

Now onto the E-tool update I mentioned.

We are going to be updating the buffs to make them more appealing. I mean come on who doesn't want to whack someone with a shovel?  We are also changing the daze to a weaken.  After much staring at fights and whatnot we decided that daze in ccs enhanced weapons is getting over used and we are about balance, not about making a quick buck.

I've also redesigned the HUD as I mentioned before.   I  kind of like the HUDS we had but after looking at them on a few different screen sizes I decided they are just to big for my liking.  The new HUD will be easy to see but small enough to not get in the way and of course hideable and resizeable.

I think that is it for now. We do have some new releases in the works but i am keeping my lips shut on those!  Enjoy and if you have any suggestions stop by the store in Fiddlers Green and drop them into the suggestion box.

March News 2011

In like a Lycan

We are kicking off March with a new release!  Last summer at a few select events we previewed the Lycan Claws.  After having to find a new scripter and do a lot of number crunching on the ccs api (we went through 11 versions to get the right balance)  we are very close to releasing the Lycan Claws.  In fact we are so close that we are going to be taking preorders of the claws soon.

By preordering the Lycan claws you can:

  • Save 10% off the normal price.
  • You will be given a voucher,  when the claws are available you just wear the voucher and it sends you the claws.  The voucher will be no transfer.
  • If you want to send the voucher to someone in word as a gift just click the gift button on the vendor.
  • Group discounts for 10 people or more are available.  Contact Stormy Wilde for more information on how to get a group discount.

Lycan Claw Features

  • Forearm and Hand attachments: Only the hand attachment is required to be worn for the damage to be done.  Forearm attachments are for looks only and comes as modify.  Hand attachments are no modify.
  • Invisible hand attachments:  This lets you use the claws like a fist fighter and allows you to wear your AV's hands/paws/claws without worrying if they match with ours.
  • Texture and color change options: There are several texture options available along with a color change option to allow you to get the closest fit possible with your av.
  • 3 CCS Enhancements with 1 CCS Special Attack for a total of 4 enhancements.
  • 1 of the above enhancements does extra damage against a lycans natural enemies; Vampires and Nekos.
  • Sleek HUD design for easy use.
  • CCS, Safezone, BNWCS and Linden Damage modes.
  • Gestures for easy use.
  • Free updates for life.
  • Our new WebDB:  The webdb was developed by John Zelin and allows users to customize their weapons for textures, stances, and other customization options available then save it to our webdb.  When we send out an update to the weapon simply load your saved settings from our webdb and you are all set.
  • On/Off ready stance.
  • Custom walk animation to really make you look like you are on the prowl.

Other News

We have many new products and updates coming soon.  All of our older weapons like he E-Tool, Knuckles, Fighter HUD, and Throwing Knives are going to be getting rewritten for completely new scripting and the CCS API's will be brought into balance with todays CCS game.

We are also currently looking into other metered combat systems and if it would be possible to incorporate their damage into our weapons.  So if you have any you would like to see please contact Stormy Wilde or Nebiros Outlander.

December 2010 News

Well a lot has happened this past month in Messer Company.  And boy do we have a lot in store for the future so im just going to get right into what has been going on.

  • After being with us for a little over a year, and since the beginning, our main scripter has left Messer Company.  Rez has gone on to work on some of his old projects that he has been putting aside for awhile now in order to complete Messer projects.
  • We also have a new scripter in house.  In fact some of you have already bought one of his products.  Early this summer we announced the Molotov Cocktails and then they sort of fell off the face of Messer.  With John Zelin hired and on board we were able to hammer out the Molotov fairly quickly and release them to the public.  They are slowly catching on but since our main customer base is the bladed type and these are the explosive type I expected as much.
  • We announced the return of the Messer Company building contest!  I had to delay this when I had eye surgery that took well way longer than I was lead to believe to recover from.  The contest is going on right now and I do have a few good entries already.
  • With the new scripter we are working on several new features that will be put into all weapons when ready. These will allow for even better use in higher lag situations that Second Life is known for during combat.  This new system will also allow us to concentrate more on getting the products done that you guys have been asking for in a more timely fashion.
  • Finaly, im getting tired of HippoVend, the vending system we currently use and I am testing out a new one.  This new system if it works out will have customer loyalty programs (with some pretty nice rewards for our frequent shoppers), the ability to do gift purchases in world, brand new affiliate vendors, gift/credit cards, searchable vendors which will allow you to find what you want faster.  Caspervend also only uses one script per vendor vs. the many scripts Hippo uses.
  • Because I get asked at least once a week if Messer will sponsor an event in a sim I am limiting what events we do each month.  I am also very very picky when it comes to who I will sponsor so if you do turn in a sponsor application and it does not get approved I am sorry.

So what can you expect in the coming months from Messer Company?

  • If you are an affiliate vendor you will soon get a new kit!  Right now though I am keeping both the hippo affiliates and the caspervend affiliates.  I will keep the HippoVend active for a few months to make sure everyone has time to switch over to the new system.
  • Every single Messer product will be getting an update.  These updates will include converting the current damage values to the new percentage damage system if they haven't been already, script optimization and more.
  • New products!  Just because we are in the process of making our older products better does not mean we have stopped working on new products.

So if anyone has any questions, comments or feedback on anything Messer related at all please feel free to join our site and post in our forums!  Who knows, your comments might end up on the front page!

Febuary 2011 News

As a lot of you know, at the begining of winter we parted ways with our original scripter, Rez Gray.  Since then John Zelin has been hard at work redoing scripts and optimizing Messer Company products.  Since John has joined Messer Company he has come out with the Molotov Cocktails and our unique CCS Training Dummy.  Both huge hits.

During this time John developed a frame work that will allow us to update weapons faster and easier than we ever could before, while still keeping the new weapons as low lag as posisble.

The Tactical Akimbo Kukri is our first update to be released with this new code in a line of many.  During the next few months every weapon we have out there will be getting an update to this new format.  This of course will mean some changes in how the weapons work.

  • Weapons will no longer listen to open chat.  Any object in Second Life that listens to open chat (Channel 0) creates lag because it has to listen to everything you are saying all the time to make sure none of them are commands they are supposed to be listening to.  Our weapons do still listen on channel 8 (/8).  And you will also be able to set your own channel so it does not conflict with any other items you may have attached.
  • Some, not all but some, will be getting their api updated.
  • Web Database's will be implemented.  What this does is it saves your personal settings.  For example: Before when you set the Kukri to a certain texture you liked, and we sent out an update, you had to reset the texture.  With the new web database, when we send out an update it will automatically load your personal settings.

Over all the next few months you can expect to see new releases from Messer Co. along with all of our older weapons being updated to this new platform.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to join our group in world or contact any Messer CSR.

Finally!

After much work, frustration, sometimes yelling at the computer screen so much I leave with a sore throat.  I am proud to announce the Tactical Akimbo Kukri has finally been updated.  Below you can find the full change log.

To get your update just attach the right hand weapon.

If you have a version earlier than 1.5 and are having problems updating please contact Stormy Wilde in SL.

-Changed over all HUD design.  When the CCS HUD was updated I noticed that on some screen resolutions the CCS HUD over shadowed the Kukri HUD.  To fix this I designed a new HUD, new attachment location.  And it is also modifiable now so you can resize and attach anywhere you want.
-Fixed the knives so now it does not matter what order you attach them in, in dual mode.  They will now load the correct dual mode buffs.
-Improved scripting functions to further prevent any issues that may or may not have happened during high lag fights (we would get random bugs and due to the nature of lag and bugs we could not easily duplicate these bugs)
-Changed CCS Enhancements to the new percentage damage and also added a new stamina stealing buff.  New enhancements are as follows.

==Stam steal: chat command b3 or /8 b3
Single
Steals  stamina every 8th hit
Opponent loses 3% stamina
You gain  3% stamina

Dual
Steals stamina every 5th hit
Opponent loses 5% stamina
you gain 5% stamina

Cost:
8% LIFE/5%MELE

Buff duration: 60 seconds

Cool down: 30 seconds

==Damage buff (critical hit): chat command b2 or /8 b2
35 +1% single
12% chance to curse for 3

50+2% dual
25% chance to curse for 6

cost increased to 3 racials
same duration

==Poison: chat command b1 or /8 b1
single:
20% chance to inflict
20+lvl damage for 20 seconds
cost 8% stam
duration 90 seconds
cooldown 45 seconds
